Theodore Krendel • Cobbler

Theodore’s highly innovative shoemaking and shoe repair techniques, like most men of genius, were not appreciated in his day. It wouldn’t be until decades later when the @crocs company capitalized on placing large holes in the shoe, maximizing air flow and comfort, that the thinking would be appreciated. 1855

Quinn Gabart • Sailor

Quinn was born with a real eye for adventure. From the time he was a pup he was never satisfied with just his picket fenced backyard. He knew it was a great big world with an endless number of tails to sniff, cats to scuffle and adventures to have. He joined the navy as a noble cause but mostly because he had a whole lot of hell to raise. 1942

Darrel ‘The Pound’ Dunkin • Running Back

Darrel was unstoppable on the field. Everyone feared him, even his own teammates. But those that knew the real Darrel knew a big hearted sappy sweetie who spent almost his entire pay to foster and care for 100’s of orphaned kitties. On the weekends he ran a youth feline football league to keep cats out of the alleys. 1952

Bernie Kane • Nanny

Bernie offered impeccable child care with a strong emphasis on the children’s physical fitness. She believed that growing children (and all canines) need a minimum of 8 square meals a day and required ample cardiovascular exertion with jaunts around the block and the occasional testing of arm strength through what she called the ‘Tennis Ball Distance Challenge’. 1921

Vincent Thorn • Master Hunter

Vincent organized and facilitated monthly hunting packs. For many years a group of 15-20 would confer on horseback at dawn on the day of the hunt. They mainly chose fields in the vicinity of large herds of livestock. Anything really that would attract a lot of flies. The hunt began with a calamitous charge, chomping of jaws and if the fly put up a really good fight you could usually expect a broken lamp or at the very least a bumped coffee table and a spilt glass. 1888

Dolores Murphy • Church Organist

Madeline Armendale • Oil Baroness

Madeline came into money late in life after accidentally striking oil on her father’s cattle ranch. Overnight the Armendales made a small fortune, and just as quickly, Madeline was able to spend it all. She kept a staff of off-duty mailmen to roam the property, to be chased at her leisure. She bought 1000s of furs, believing they were siamese cat but turned out to be muskrat, and daily she chewed 5 pairs of imported Italian leather loafers. 1939

Sonja Choquette • Psychic

Being a psychic in New Orleans comes with very stiff competition. On every corner of the Quarter there is a palm reader, a tarot reader, a tea leaf reader and folks who commune with the dead. Every day people would walk right past all these shops to come into Mrs. Choquette’s door because she was the only medium east of the Mississippi who was able to read the future of all nine of your lives. 1821
